Composers’ Workshop
Accepted composers will be invited to the 2023 Composers’ Workshop at the University of Utah, July 12-15, 2023 and will participate in exclusive master class opportunities with the composer in residence. Past workshops have included Eric Ewazen, Kevin Day, and Steven Verhelst.
Accepted scores will be presented on a New Music Recital or other featured performance, performed by ITF artists, presenters, registrants, and/or faculty. In addition, Composers’ Workshop attendees will have access to the full ITF schedule, which includes numerous master classes, concerts, and workshops featuring new music. In order to have selected pieces performed, composers must register for the festival.
David Biedenbender
This year’s Composers Workshop featured guest is American composer David Biedenbender. Composers Workshop participants will have the opportunity to work with David, whose music is often influenced by his performance experiences in rock, jazz, wind bands, New Orleans style brass bands, and his study of Indian Carnatic music.
